Community grants

Alliant Energy Foundation funds projects that fit into one of three focus areas: Helping Families, Education and the Environment. Grant applications are accepted in February and August of each year. Grants typically range from $500 to $5,000 to support programs and projects making an impact in Alliant Energy communities.

Hometown Safety grants

A Hometown Safety grant from Alliant Energy Foundation helps fund safety-related equipment. Grant applications are accepted in April, August and December. Grants are typically $1,000 and help provide your community’s first responders with the tools they need to take care of your residents.

Corporate sponsorships

Every year, Alliant Energy supports hundreds of programs and events throughout our communities in Iowa and Wisconsin. We specifically support programs in our three focus areas (Helping Families, Education and the Environment), as well as community festivals, safety events and diversity programs. Corporate sponsorship requests are accepted 11 months out of the year with our online application.

Employee and retiree programs

With the Foundation’s Matching Gifts Program, donations made by Alliant Energy employees or retirees to qualifying charitable organizations in Iowa, Wisconsin or Minnesota are matched dollar-for-dollar.

In 2017, employees, retirees and Board Members of Alliant Energy Corporation enhanced their generosity with over 3,500 matching gifts. Through this remarkable partnership with the Alliant Energy Foundation, over $450,000 was donated to charitable organizations.

Through our Volunteer Program, the Alliant Energy Foundation recognizes and rewards community service by current employees and retirees of Alliant Energy and its family of companies.

Volunteers who give their own time to support a wide array of causes and events in their communities are eligible to provide grants of up to $400 annually to eligible charitable organizations in Iowa, Wisconsin or Minnesota.

In 2017, employees and retirees of Alliant Energy were awarded $113,000 in grants in recognition of their 88,000 volunteer hours. The Independent Sector places a value of $24.14 on each volunteer hour, meaning our volunteers have had an impact of more than $2.1 million using their Energy for Good.

United Way giving

Each year, the Alliant Energy Foundation and employees and retirees of Alliant Energy enthusiastically support the United Way.

Living United means working together to advance the common good. This past year, Alliant Energy provided more than $550,000 in contributions to United Way organizations throughout our utility service area in Iowa and Wisconsin.

Nearly 1,400 Alliant Energy employees and retirees gave time, energy and contributions to the annual United Way campaign, resulting in more than $1.2 million awarded to 74 different United Way, Community Chest and Variety Club organizations. Additionally, employees advocated for participation from their peers in local fundraising events.
